My easiest improvement was to add animals (ducks and chickens).Free-range ducks keep bugs, snails and bugs away and chickens make compost for me. My ducks are Completely eliminated the grassroot-eating larvae that used to give large bare patches in my grass that I couldn't stay in. No poisons, no fertilizer, almost no mowing.

I collect the leaves and bring them in bulk to the chicken area along with other food/plant material we don't want. They quickly turn this into a beautiful dark earth. Then use this as a top dressing or potting soil mix throughout your garden. It is leaf free and bug free. If free-range chickens aren't available, use them as a non-electric compost mixer.

To prevent flooding of the house in the southeast corner, I used freely recycled bricks to build a raised bed along the south wall across the width of the house. This raised earth somehow rotates groundwater, flowing parallel to my underground house and out into the lowlands in my front yard. No more - that's great. Quick Landscaping - Whenever I see or hear people pruning large trees, I run out and ask the man about the mulch from the mill. I use mulch a lot as a low-tech landscaping tool for my home and area. It's free and easy. Unfortunately, I've heard that commercial joint grinders don't work very well, but there are some good ones in town.

Just use distilled vinegar on sidewalk weeds. Keep a spray bottle handy. Also, pour vinegar on the roof to kill the moss. I do this so homeowners don't bring in tons of chemicals to get the job done.

It is much easier, cheaper and healthier for rabbits to keep/raise rabbits in floor colonies instead of high cages. This is more difficult for angora rabbits, but possible.

Not sure if this meets your criteria -

I drive the deer off with surveyor stakes I buy wholesale from the manufactory. I used these first, turned them upside down and stuck them to a 4 foot chain link fence as a deer deterrent. it worked perfectly. Place a pointed stake about every 3 feet. No more deer in my backyard. 6 years ago he bet $10 he bet 50 stakes and it still works. Stakes are 1 inch x 3 feet. There were always deer before using stakes. I use different size stakes throughout my garden.

Strawberry Farm

Strawberry farming

Strawberries are very popular all over the world in desserts such as ice cream, cakes and milkshakes. Fruits are very popular for their nutritional value, color, aroma, texture and, of course, taste.Artificial flavors are also used in cosmetics, hand sanitizers, candies, and more. The United States is the world's largest strawberry producer, followed by Turkey, Spain, Egypt, Mexico and Poland. In India, strawberries are grown in the districts of Satara, Kalimpong in West Bengal, Bangalore, Nainital and Dehradun. Among these, the Satara districts of Mahabaleshwar, Wai and Panchgani together account for 85% of India's strawberry cultivation.

Strawberry Farm

strawberry plant

The scientific name of strawberry is Frag aria ananassa. It is a herbaceous plant with a fibrous root system. The flowers appear in small clusters and are generally white in color. They rarely appear reddish. Strawberries are not actually "berries". The pulp of the fruit is actually a holder (container) that holds the ovary together. The part that appears as the seed is actually the ovary that envelops the seed and appears on the outside of the fruit.

Best conditions for growing strawberries

Strawberry farm climate

Growing strawberries requires a temperate climate, although some varieties can be grown in subtropical climates. It is a short-day plant. Requires an 8- to 12-hour photoperiod (daylight) for about 10 days during flowering. They are dormant and do not grow in winter. Days are longer in spring than in winter. Therefore, the plant receives sunlight and begins flower development. However, for strains grown in subtropical regions with mild winters, plants will continue to grow. Strawberries are divided into two groups based on their response to photoperiod length.

Dominant strain - develops flower buds in both long and short light periods.

Commercial strains - flowers only during short periods of light.

Soil for growing strawberries

Strawberries have a fibrous root system. Therefore, most of the roots remain in the topsoil and penetrate to a depth of up to 15 cm. Therefore, humus-rich soil is required for cultivation. Care should be taken not to grow strawberries in soil that was used to grow tomatoes, potatoes, raspberries, peppers, or eggplants. They will draw nutrients from the soil.

pH value

Strawberries grow best in slightly acidic soil with a pH between 5.0 and 6.5. Lime also grows in soils with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5.

Strawberry farm season

Maximum vegetative growth of strawberries occurs in autumn. It goes dormant in winter. Winter ends and spring begins. Therefore, strawberries are usually planted in September-October. Such plants lack vigor and yield less when planted early.

Water needs and irrigation

Being a shallow-rooted strawberry, it requires frequent watering or is susceptible to drought. However, it doesn't require that much water. Water is needed only to moisten the roots and promote vegetative growth.

Fall planting promotes vegetative growth when runners are regularly watered after planting. Additionally, frequent watering of newly planted buds will definitely increase the number of suckers produced and This leads to early rooting. During the rice planting season, it does not rain and the fields are watered twice a week. Starting in November, I reduced the frequency to once a week. During the winter months of December and January, water every 15 days. The frequency increases again as the flowers develop into strawberry fruits. Frequent watering during the fruiting period increases fruit size.

At any point in strawberry cultivation, soil moisture should be maintained below 1.0 atm he. Excessive watering is harmful to plants. Rows and lanes are watered 2-3 days before planting. Care should be taken to release water at the roots during irrigation. Wetting the petals and berries increases the likelihood of a fungal infection. Proper irrigation is required during harvest time to obtain good quality fruit.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

seasonal depression - summer time sadness

 Introduction

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that has a seasonal pattern. Depressive episodes  tend to occur at the same time each year, usually in the winter.

As with other forms of depression, the two  main symptoms of SAD are  low mood and a lack of interest in life. Other symptoms of SAD include:

 being less active than normal

 sleeping more

Learn more  about the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder.

 Winter Depression

SAD is sometimes known as "winter depression" because  symptoms are more obvious and tend to be more severe at this time of  year.

Symptoms often begin in the fall, when the days begin to shorten. They are the hardest in December, January and February.

In most cases, SAD symptoms  begin to decrease in the spring before disappearing.

 What causes SAD?

The exact cause of SAD is not fully understood, but it is thought to be related to the reduction of sunlight during the shorter days of the year.

Sunlight can affect some  chemicals and hormones in the brain. However, it is not clear what this effect is. One theory is that light stimulates a part of the brain called the hypothalamus, which regulates mood, appetite and sleep. These things can affect how you feel.

In SAD patients, lack of sunlight and a problem with certain brain chemicals prevent the hypothalamus from working properly. It is believed that the lack of light affects:

the production of the hormone melatonin

the production of the hormone serotonin

the  circadian rhythm of the body (the body's internal clock, which regulates several biological processes during 2

 hours)

Read more about the effect of sunlight. about melatonin, serotonin and the body's circadian rhythm.

 Diagnosing SAD

If you have  symptoms of SAD, see your doctor. They may do an evaluation to check your mental health.

You may be asked about your mood, lifestyle, eating and sleeping habits and  seasonal changes in your thoughts and behavior.

Learn more about diagnosing seasonal affective disorder.

  SAD Treatment

As with any  depression, SAD can be difficult to live with. It can make you feel tired, stressed and unhappy. However, it can usually be treated successfully.

Light therapy is often used to treat SAD. This involves sitting in front of or under the light box. Light boxes produce  very bright light. They come in a variety of designs, including table lamps and wall-mounted lamps.

Consult your doctor and read the manufacturer's instructions before using Light Box to treat SAD.

Depending on the nature and severity of your symptoms, your doctor may also recommend talking therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or medications such as antidepressants.

They will recommend the most appropriate treatment program for you, which may include a combination of treatments.
